GDC Vancouver Island hosts National GDC President, Mark Rutledge CGD, with a presentation of interest to all designers, writers, and communication specialists.

The event will be video recorded for distribution to other GDC Chapters to support the Cheryl Lynn Rutledge Northern Indigenous Student Award fund, a GDC Foundation Scholarship initiated by Mark Rutledge.

About Mark: Mark is a designer with deep roots and experience designing for Canada’s First Nations communities and organizations, and is a proud Ojibwa from the Little Grand Rapids First Nation. He is currently the Lead Designer at Animikii,Inc., working with many Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations helping First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities. He has helped design websites for The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, New Journeys and Indian Horse. He has also created branding and visual identities for Primary Colours, Turtle Island Institute, EntrepreNorth and many others. Other long-standing clients include Nahanni River Adventures, Bean North, Chukka Caribbean, Kwanlin Dün First Nations, Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, Sport Yukon and Yukon Wild. He lives with his family in Whitehorse YT.

Location: Ambrosia, 6:38 Fisgard St, Victoria BC

5:45 Group smudging ceremony: for those who wish to attend, meet at Ambrosia, walk to Spirit Square with guides.

Doors: 6:00 pm, beverages, appetizers, mingling and networking
Presentation: 7:15 pm with question period following

Note: we have decided not to serve acohol due to the addition of the Smudging Ceremony. There will be soft drinks, coffee, and tea available.

Admission: PRE_REGISTRATION REQUIRED. (Due to space limitations and food order!)
• GDC Members, Students, Indigenous peoples: free with advance ticket,
  and $10 (cash only) at the door.

• General admission: $15 advance tickets, $20 (cash only) at the door.
