GDC/BC AGM: Converge — Branding in the age of UX

It's that time of year again and the GDC BC 2020 AGM is fast approaching! Join us for a great evening with your GDC friends and colleagues as we celebrate and reflect on 2019.

As part of this year's AGM, we are excited to welcome Wil Arndt, Creative Director of OXD, as our guest speaker. Join us as Wil reveals the inside journey of their company rebrand and how the application of UX processes set them up for success.

As a member of the GDC, you have a stake in our evolution and the unique ability to deeply impact our profession. Our executive board is only as strong as those who contribute, and we need you to guide GDC’s evolution. If you are a current member in good standing, this is your call to get involved at the executive level this year. We need you.

This year's GDC BC AGM is a ‘handshake and hug-free' gathering. Elbow bumps and enthusiastic clapping are strongly encouraged!

Converge — Branding in the age of UX

As Creative Director, Wil works to ensure that projects meet the highest standards of design and communications excellence. Wil works closely with clients to articulate a vision for great design and digital brand integration, while delighting the user and exceeding the project’s communication objectives.

With over 20 years of design experience, Wil’s work has been honoured with some 150 industry and design awards and numerous accolades in the media. As Principal of Mod7—a leading digital agency in Vancouver acquired by OXD in 2013—Wil helped to push the boundaries of digital storytelling, mobile development, and interactive design.

In addition to 4 years of architecture school training, Wil completed his degree in Communication Design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, where he later taught Motion Graphics and Interactive Design in the mid-00’s. Though his schedule doesn’t allow room for teaching these days, Wil still likes to mentor students at the Vancouver Film School and speak at various area universities.

When not spending time with his wife and two children or challenging his team to create great design at OXD, Wil dabbles in writing terrible science fiction and loves playing the drums. He has recently discovered a soft spot for whisky and puppies.
