SureWerx is a national supplier of tool, equipment and safety product lines for the Canadian market. Our products include: abrasives, air tools, hand tools, material handling, lifting equipment and safety apparel and products. We are a privately held, proudly Canadian company recognized as a leader in the wholesale distribution of tools, equipment and safety industry. Our head office is located in Coquitlam, BC with six branch offices strategically located in the major cities across Canada. 

SureWerx is looking for a Production Designer within our Coquitlam location. The Production Designer will support the goals of the marketing department by providing graphic production of marketing collateral, which includes, but not limited to product catalogues, flyers, brochures and packaging. The successful candidate will bring a desire for design and production with a never ending quest to learn and improve.
General Responsibilities: 
Works closely with the Team Leader and Marketing Coordinator in carrying jobs through the project workflow, in conjunction with other priorities and timelines as set by the Team Leader;

Adheres and contributes to the priorities and timelines of the Marketing department in conjunction with the priorities and timelines of the entire company and related companies as a whole;

Produces product packaging, promotional flyers, new product announcements, labels and assists in producing special projects and requests in accordance with the creative strategy set by the Team Leader;

Ensures, Corporate branding and production standards are met on a consistent basis;

Able to follow basic design principles and adds an element of creativity with typography and page layout;

Performs basic page layout, typesetting, basic drawing and photo editing.  Understands graphic resolution issues as it pertains to offset printing, display signage and the web;

A keen eye for typography, i.e.: know when to kern, add leading or when to add paragraph spacing;

Proofing of collateral produced for accuracy;

Prepares files so they are RIP ready, with an understanding of colour printing with correct separations, linked files and applied fonts;

Works closely with print providers in ensuring print specifications are met on a consistent basis;

Performs backups and filing completed projects;
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes 
• Post-secondary education in Graphic Design / visual communications or relevant work experience;
• 2 - 4 years of print production experience in pre-press or creative agency environment;
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat) in a Mac environment;
• Strong typographic and layout skills;
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word);
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and follow-up skills;
• Enthusiasm and a desire to learn and gain experience;
• Takes direction well, flexible and ability to learn quickly;
• Meticulous and goal oriented with a keen eye for details;
• Basic understanding of Quebecois French considered an asset, but not necessary
