Interpretive Exhibit Designer - Role
As an Exhibit Designer, you will be developing drawings and production details for fabrication and installation of exhibits, drafting exhibition layouts for spaces, and producing three-dimensional designs of exhibits. You will ensure unique exhibit design solutions are carried out in a manner that encourages and cultivates creative thinking among team members, inspires their professional growth and creates new directions in exhibit design problem solving. Most importantly, you will create exhibit design solutions that will meet the desired visitor experience goals and objectives of the client.
Main Job Responsibilities
Be a part of the design team, and assist in planning, conceptualizing, developing, and refining design concepts.
Produce presentations, documentation drawings, schedules, and specifications under the supervision of the senior exhibition project designer or project manager/coordinator.
Work and coordinate with other in-house exhibit / graphic designers, writers, content specialists, and detailers / architectural technologists.
Plan and carry out workflow with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
Attend design team meetings when required.
Qualifications
College / University Graduate from a recognized Design / Industrial or Environmental Design program
Minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience
Fluent in MAC and Adobe Creative Suite
Strong working knowledge of rendering and 3D modeling in Sketch-Up
Ability to create shop drawings or working drawings
Ability to read architectural drawings and work in scale
Ability to do conceptual hand sketching
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Aptitude in creating strong conceptual design studies
High attention to detail and strong organization skills
Excellent command of English (written and verbal language skills)
Creative, energetic, forward-thinking designer
Ability to visualize spaces and plan how they can be used in terms of interpretive storytelling, interior and exterior exhibits, traffic flow, reception, social and other areas
Mathematical and financial skills to estimate build/materials requirements and costs
Communication and interpersonal skills in order to liaise with fabricators, design group and project leaders to ensure that final plans are accurate and meet the intent of the design
Flexible, strong team player
Self-motivated and ability to be self-directed
Ability to juggle multiple jobs and changes, keep all jobs on track, meet deadlines and work within a tight schedule and fast-paced environment
