The Web Development Officer (WDO) is responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of MITT’s primary website. The WDO reports to the Creative Director, External Relations, and will monitor web traffic, measure digital campaigns and aggregate for reporting. The WDO will have the expertise to identify, prevent and resolve issues.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 Provide direction on development of both external and internal (Intranet) websites
 Coordinate, organize and edit web content to support MITT’s strategic goals
 Develop, edit and maintain MITT web pages
 Manage the website technology stack and serve as the point person for website issues across the organization
 Monitor web traffic and performance
 Have the capacity to identify, prevent and resolve issues
 Consult and partner with internal teams and external vendors / suppliers
 Optimize website performance through Google Analytics and marketing automation tools
 Possess basic knowledge of SEO and Google AdWords strategies
 Create reports and track progress to produce regular status reports
 Provide recommendations using data analytics and utilize existing demographic and key audience data to help inform campaign decisions
 Assist with email marketing efforts of various units and advise on best practices
 Supports event activities with online promotion and content, under the direction of the Creative Director
 Assist at major events as additional staffing or audio-visual support
 Perform some editing and formatting of video projects required for some institutional events
 Assist with priority communications issues as they arise (including crisis communications)
Qualifications and Experience
 Certificate, diploma or degree related to web and/or communications field
 A minimum of 3 years directly related experience
 An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
 Experience in post-secondary education an asset
 Previous involvement, interpretation and work with brand systems
 A strong user understanding and demonstrated experience in web content, usability, architecture, development and design
 Excellent web / digital media project management experience
 A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
 Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development
 Experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools
 Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques
 Required knowledge of the following: HTML, CSS, javascript, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc., knowledge of W3C Web standards, WAI, ADA & Sections 508 and 504 compliance
