Problem/Need: The U of M Distinguished Alumni Awards recognize graduates who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in their professional and personal lives, and who have been an inspiration to fellow alumni, current students and the community.

There are three key phases for the program:
1) Nominations
2) Award recipients announcement
3) Celebration of Excellence

Strategy/Methodology: In 2014, the Distinguished Alumni Award was expanded into five categories (Lifetime Achievement, Professional Achievement, Community Service, Service to the University of Manitoba, and Outstanding Young Alumni). At that time, a new identity was created for the program.

In 2015, we continued to build on the new identity, ensuring consistency in language, tone, design and layout across the many pieces required for this signature program and event celebrating U of M alumni.

A sampling of the communications and marketing pieces required were: nomination forms, print advertisements, stories, photos and videos for each recipient, invitations, programs, signage, event slides, website updates and social media.
