Problem/Need

A new coffee shop was opening in Vancouver and was in need of an identity. I worked closely with the clients to build the brand from ground up.

Strategy/Methodology

The logo is based on an image of latte art on the top of a steaming cup of espresso made with milk. The design was to have a very modern, simplistic feel. It was applied to signage, coffee cups, stickers, napkins, etc. For an espresso connoisseur, this symbol will be a recognizable one. The client wanted to express an upscale, somewhat exclusive feel with the brand. Deep reds, greys and silvers were chosen to portray a feel of exclusivity. The symbol is iconic and may stand on its own as a communication tool for the brand. Bold signage was created to illuminate this great spot in the middle of Gastown.
