Ashlea Spitz was born and raised to love the arts in Vancouver, British Columbia. She attended KPU studying in the School of Business, Marketing Management and subsequently attended BCIT for Communications and New Media Design, where she graduated with distinction. After completion, Ashlea was called upon to work as the motion graphics designer for CityTV's CityPulse News and Breakfast Television. Although motion graphics was her initial interest, she quickly became immersed into the web and print world. She has worked in advertising and marketing agencies and large corporate in-house agencies. Her advertising and design experience ranges from account management, creative direction and graphic design of brand development, editorial design, web and mobile interface design, online marketing campaigns, and exhibition designs. Clients included Nike, Proctor & Gamble, BC Lotteries, Casino Presidente, and companies from local to international clients.
Since 2005, Ashlea has been maintaining a successful graphic design business Pixsoul Media Inc., which was nominated as a finalist for the ‘Successful You Award: Best Company’ in 2012. Currently, Ashlea is a passionate instructor for Vancouver Community College (VCC) in the Digital Graphic Design, Visual Communications program and at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Vancouver, BC. She is devoted to teaching digital graphic design and has great passion for helping students explore the things they love. Ashlea Spitz is also an Adobe Certified Instructor and is an accredited member of the Adobe Education Exchange. She is a long-standing member of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada and held the Web Communications Chair for the BC Chapter from 2009-2010 and is now the VP Education for GDC National.
